    Hello!

Does anyone have a solid recipe for Beef Picadillo? I have only ever eaten this dish, but not prepared it. I have looked at several recipes on line for reference, but the seasonings seem to vary a lot from recipe to recipe. I want this to taste uniquley like Picadillo as I recall it, and not like taco meat with potatoes in it - ya know what I mean?

    Any suggestions are appreciated!

    Diane

    Hey Diane,

Maybe we can collaborate on this,. I was working on this recipe at my previous district before I left and I'm looking to bring it to my new district. Let me know when you're available and we'll schedule a call.

Here is Yuma Union High School's version of Carne Picadillo-  it was developed by my team last year.    We had mixed reviews from the students- they liked it best when made into a burrito.

The thing about Picadillo is that is a cultural and family dish. So must Latin American countries have their own version and then is a family recipe. So you basically cook the ground beef and then add seasoning and ingredients depending on your taste or cultural preference to your students.

ICN  have this recipe that i had used for a family event and every one loved it.

My plate have this one : Picadillo - USDA MyPlate Kitchen Recipe

California Dept of ed have this Cuban one that is pretty good:

    Recipe for Cuban Picadillo

    SNA have one also.

Good luck testing any of this and see what your kids like.

    Hello -

Thanks for the tips and recipes everyone. I am going to go through them and see which one I can match closest to the ingrediants we already stock. I will follow up with pics and notes when it is complete!

Have a great rest of the week,
