ScratchWorks participants are invited to provide feedback on a new local foods for schools policy concept developed by partners from the Chef Ann Foundation, Friends of the Earth, Harvard Law School Food Law and Policy Clinic, the National Farm to School Network, and the National Sustainable Agriculture Coalition. This proposal would give districts an optional new pathway within the USDA Foods program—allowing operators to use entitlement funds specifically for purchasing local foods.
